Seed Balls Environmental Education Workshop
Seed Balls, also known by the Japanese technique Nendo Dango, are an effective and fun way to promote biodiversity and reforestation. They consist of small spheres of clay and substrate that protect the seeds until climatic conditions are ideal for germination. This workshop aligns with our mission to regenerate ecosystems in a simple and accessible way for everyone.
How does the Seed Balls Environmental Education Workshop activity work?
During this hands-on workshop, participants get hands-on experience creating their own life bombs. It's an excellent opportunity to learn about:
Life cycles of plants and pollinators.
Importance of native and endemic species.
Soil preservation and combating desertification.
Practical Applications: Where to sow the seeds?
Seed balls can be scattered in degraded areas, school gardens, or spaces that need a new green life. It's a real-impact activity that combines theoretical knowledge with ecological practice.
Target audience and contexts
Schools: From preschool to high school.
Companies: Team building activities with an environmental purpose.
Festivals and Events: Quick workshops to raise public awareness.
Benefits:
- For students: Children and young people will become little gardeners, learning about the life cycle, the importance of plants for the environment and how to contribute to a greener future.
- For teachers: A fun, hands-on activity that connects students with nature and addresses topics such as biology, ecology and sustainability.
- For school: Transforming the school into a flower garden and contributing to the preservation of local biodiversity is extremely important. Seed balls are a simple and effective way to create a greener, more enjoyable space for everyone.
Why are seed balls important?
- Practical learning: Children and young people will learn about the life cycle, the importance of plants for the environment and how to contribute to a greener future.
- Connection with nature: By creating and launching seed balls, students develop a sense of responsibility and care for the environment.
- Species diversity: Seed balls help to increase the variety of plants in a given location, making the environment richer and more beautiful.
- Skills development: Practical activities encourage creativity, teamwork and environmental awareness.
Many native plant species are threatened with extinction. Seed balls are a fun and effective way to help restore degraded areas and promote biodiversity. Imagine a more colorful and lively world! With seed balls, we can transform any space into a lush, meaningful garden.
Our workshops are adapted to the age group of the students and the pedagogical objectives of the school. We provide all the seeds and materials needed for the activity.
Year-round activity.

1 – What are Seed Balls and how does this workshop work?
Seed Balls are small spheres made of clay and substrate that protect the seeds of native plants. In this hands-on workshop, students learn how to create them manually so they can be "thrown" into degraded areas or in the school's own garden, allowing nature to take its course and germinate with the first rains.
2 – What are the main sustainability themes addressed in this activity?
The activity focuses on the importance of native biodiversity, the circular economy, and ecosystem conservation. Students explore the life cycle of plants and learn how small individual actions can help combat the extinction of local plant species and create urban green spaces.
3 – Can this activity be integrated into the school curriculum?
Yes. The Seed Ball Workshop is an excellent educational tool for subjects such as Natural Sciences and Biology. It is adaptable to different age groups and addresses several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), transforming theoretical ecological concepts into a tactile and memorable experience.
