Relive an ancestral way of life, now rare and precious, that shaped the landscape and culture of the mountains of Portugal and discover the secrets of pastoralism and the fundamental role of livestock in preserving the ecosystem. Follow the shepherd in his daily activities, learning about caring for the flock, the importance of the Serrana-Ribatejana breed and the challenges of life in the mountains.Witness how grazing, in harmony with nature, contributes to the reduction of flammable vegetation, making the mountain more resilient to fires.

FEATURES
The route is not a walk at the participants’ own pace. The route is done in the company of the Shepherd and at the pace of the hosts – the Serranas-Ribatejanas goats –, with as many stops as they wish.
Starting at 9am, leaving from Capril da Serra, returning to the same location. Meeting again after lunch is optional, at a time to be arranged with the Pastor.
DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY
Circular route on dirt trails, with uneven ground, with ups and downs, in a mountain environment and with a distance that can vary from 2 to 4 km.
Accessible to most visitors – suitable for all ages and with a low level of difficulty.
PREPARATION
You should wear comfortable clothing, suitable for the weather conditions expected for the day of the tour, a hat, and footwear suitable for walking in nature. It is recommended that you bring a water bottle and a small snack.
VERY IMPORTANT
Pay attention to the instructions the Shepherd gives you, both about the trails and in relation to interactions with the goats, because they are working, keeping the bushes low and thus the landscapes more protected from fires.
Leave nothing but your footprints on the trails and pick up any trash you produce!
NOTICE
Depending on the Client's preferences, the Workshop and Cheese tasting can be included at the beginning or end of the activity. A snack may also be included along the way.
